Young People

  • SUNDAY SCHOOL
All Sunday Schools in the Diocese are members of the South African Sunday School Association SANSSA.
A growing number of parishes are using the widly acclaimed South African developed "iVangeli" Sunday School Curriculum - "God's word for a South African Kid's World".
This Curriculum is available in a variety of South African languages.  (The iVangeli Website address is:  www.ivangeli.org  )
Many of our Sunday Schools participate SANSSA's annual Bible quiz.  Teams start in regional knockouts and the succesful Church Teams make it to the National Finals.

  • YOUTH INITIATIVE
In 2008 the Diocese embarked on a Youth Leadership Program in conjunction with J-Life.  (The J-Life Website address is:  www.jlife.org.za )
Two of our young people are currently undergoing training which they will complete at the end of the year.

  • DYC
The Diocesan Youth Council draws together leaders of parish youth groups and organises events like the Annual Youth Day of Football and Netball.

  • CAMP CTK
Annually in December, youth from around the Diocese attend camps arranged for various ages.
These camps have grown in popularity.
Last year we celebrated 10 Camps, most being held at Camp Eden near Balfour in  Mpumalanga.

  • HAPPENING MINISTRIES
During the year the Diocese runs several "Happening Weekends".
80 to 90 young people from a variety of church denominations attend Happening each year.
The aim of the programme is to groom youth as Christian leaders in their own churches.
