HIV And Aids Ministry Plenary
The parish co-ordinators met at St Michael's, Sebokeng on the afternoon of 18th February. Nandi Tshaka reported on various developments since the last meeting in October and Idah Davids reported on her visit to the Church in Pakistan as our representative. HIV and AIDS are just beginning to be concerns of the Pakistan Church, and to be taken seriously in their primary health clinics in the slums where Christians mostly live.
Bishop Peter presented the vision of the Tsoaranang/Bambanani Anglican Care Centres in each Archdeaconry(see the report on women's organisations) and this was endorsed by the meeting.
Parish co-ordinators were asked to act on the following before the next meeting which is scheduled for 21st May:
-
Children: To look for volunteers to run after care centres as project manager or participants, and social workers who may help with the fostering process; also to look for volunteer foster parents
-
VCT: Co-ordinators to follow up with their parishes, if they are ready for another VCT session, or a first one if they have not had one
-
Co-ordinators to assist with the CPSA's research and evaluation programme around stigma and discrimination.
-
On caring and Siyafundisa, to await developments.
Next meeting on Sunday 21st May after 08:00 confirmation service at Ascension, Sebokeng
