DEVOTED & CREATED WORSHIP

The third Are Roriseng took place from Friday 24th to Monday 27th September after it was moved from the June school holidays. It was mainly moved due to the unbearable winter cold and the 2010 soccer World Cup.

Young people poured in on the first day full of energy and enthusiasm. It was their chance to spend valuable time in prayer and contacted with God. The guys occupied St. Benedict’s and girls St. Peters’. It was amazing to see young people so eager to experience God; and it was evident in the vibrant and energetic worship. The main events took place in the Priory Church of St. Peter’s.

Rules and introductions were given and it was time to listen to the first talk for the conference. Bishop Peter Lee was the keynote speaker and the first talk was on “Letters from God”. In his talks, the Bishop mainly focused on different techniques of prayer and meditation.

The group was divided into 3 groups by means of colour-coding, and each group had a chance to experience a different taste of morning prayer. Fr. Kumeran Soobrayan and Dennis Halo were responsible for the Eastern Spirituality; Mpho Mohale and Lucy Maboye did the Celtic Spirituality while Byron Williams took the young people through a Prayer Walk. The different groups rotated to get a taste of each on a different morning.
The programme was not very different to the previous years, but this year saw the introduction of new and exciting workshops, such as Praying with secular music, Praying Everywhere and making Music to the Lord.

The attendees also had a chance to sit for Spiritual coaching, which was done mainly by the conference staff. This was given a considerable amount of time, so to afford people who were laden to come, talk and pray with someone.
The aim of the camp was Spiritual transformation and an encounter with God.

Bishop’s other talk’s were “Dreaming in Prayer”, and “Keeping Focused”. These meditative techniques were in the taste of contemplative meditation and Lectio Divina. They were well received by the youth.

The Traditional Explained Eucharist was an eye -opening experience to the attendees. They later expressed their gratitude for that service. There was also a Creative Eucharist in which Paris Ball (a diocesan guest from the Diocese of Virginia in the USA) helped arrange a skit to present the Gospel.   The introit hymn was very different. We sang by Monica Carely.

Monday was a sad time for both staff and attendees. The little community that had grown so close in a couple of days, had to go different routes. Different Archdeaconries sat together to look forward and plan a similar event and the conference was concluded with a worship-filled Eucharist. Thanks be to God, the management and staff of the Resurrection Way and conference staffers for a conference well-planned and co-ordinated.
