CELEBRATING MANCHE MASEMOLA – 7 FEBRUARY

On Sunday 7th February Bishop Peter set off with visiting retired Bishop Graham Dow from the North of England.  The first stop was at Bernard Mizeki congregation in Polokong, at the southwestern corner of greater Sebokeng.  The Congregation worships in a cathedral made of walling slabs.

Bishop Graham was so impressed with the glorious singing and the beautiful reading voices of some of the people – now 30 in number, quite substantial growth over the past couple of years.

After 20 minutes drive diagonally across Sebokeng the 10 o’clock service took place at Manche Masemola Congregation, celebrating the patronal festival of the young Martyr from Sekhukhuneland whose statue now adorns the western facade of West minister Abbey  in London.

Again the congregation has grown to about 30 – this time a hot service in a tin-walled and tin-roofed structure towards the middle of the day.  How amazing that in a situation of such deprivation, a fine meal was provided afterwards for all the congregants.  Just one person had been up at 3:30 am to do all the cooking and provide for the people “because they are working very hard”!
